Some verbs that can be followed directly by "to"-infinitive
or by object plus "to"-infinitive are: ask, beg, expect, intend, like (think wise),
prefer, would like (enjoy), want, wish:

Mr Johnson is speaking to his
secretary and says:
I would like you to finish this report today.
Mr Johnson´s secretary gets home and
says to his wife:
I´m late because my boss asked me to finish a report. |
If
the object is a personal pronoun, you have to use the object form:
My boss asked me to finish a
report.
